PF Registration

Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) provides social security to employees employed through EPFO ​​by providing salary, pension and insurance.

Applicability of EPF Policy to Businesses:

This policy is applicable to almost all businesses that employ 20 or more employees, either directly or through contractors.

If a business wants to register with EPFO ​​and has less than 20 employees, it can do so by getting certified with the employees.

ELIGIBILITY OF AN EMPLOYEE:

All the employees of an establishment covered under EPFO whose basic + DA is less than 15000 and having date of joining on or after 01.09.2014 (earlier it was 6500) are eligible to join.

Here the term Basic means almost all the allowances earned by the employee except DA and HRA.

All the eligible employees need to be registered in the portal and contributions need to be paid from the subsequent month of their date of joining.

CONTRIBUTIONS

The rate of contributions to EPFO are to be paid in the following rates

12% Employee contribution (on basic+DA earned by employee) (A/c 01)

12% by Employer (on basic+DA earned by employee) (3.67- A/c 01 and 8.33-A/c 10)

0.5% towards Admin charges by Employer (A/c 02)

0.5 % towards EDLI(Insurance) Contribution by Employer (A/c 21)

Admi charges for EDLI are waived off (A/c 22)

A/c 01 and A/c 10 are of employees’ provident and pension funds respectively.

PROCEDURE FOR REGISTERING

Go to Shram Suvidha Portal–> Registration & License->” Click Here to Register”-> “REGISTRATION UNDER EPF AND ESI”

Unified Shram Suvidha Portal – Ministry of Labour and Employment

Click on “Sign Up”

Register for a shram suvidha Username and password

Login with the created Shram Suvidha Username and password

Complete the application form and upload necessary documents

Approve the completed form using digital signature/e-sign

upon successful approval,PF username and password will be sent to the registered mobile number after successful registration

The received Username and Password can be used in the following link for filing monthly returns with EPFO

DOCUMENTS USUALLY REQUIRED FOR REGISTERING WITH EPFO

  • Any license issued by any Government authority with establishment/company/firm name on it.
  • Pan Card (Company/Firm) (for a proprietary firm, Owner’s PAN)
  • Address Proof of the establishment/company/firm
  • Proprietor/ Partners’/ Directors’ PAN and latest aadhaar cards
  • Specimen Signature Copy (of the authorized Signatory)
  • Agreement/ Consent in case of voluntary registration (i.e., with employee strength less than 20).

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTERING BRANCH CODE WITH EPFO:

If an establishment already having PF code and having branch at another location, then the establishment can register its branch with separate code. For this, a separate license and address proof for that particular location is needed along with the Aadhaar, PAN, e-mail and mobile number of the owner of that branch.
